Using this menu you may change the program's base settings.
Callsigns
-
TX-MyCall is the standard user callsign. LinKT will use this
callsign to establish outgoing connections.
-
The Listen-to Calls are callsigns which LinKT will accept for
incoming calls. Remote stations may connect to LinKT by
calling these callsigns. (e.g. if your (x)yl is licenced, too)
-
Locked out callsigns will be rejected by LinKT. Whenever these
calls try to connect, they receive "Sorry, access denied."
and are disconnected. Note: This is not simply intended to lock out unfriendly
persons but has been included to allow FlexNet to do its link-check without
annoying the operator.
All callsigns are SSID sensitive, so DL1NC means DL1NC-0 and
not all SSIDs from DL1NC-0 to DL1NC-15.
Ports
The window "available ports" shows all known
AX.25-interfaces. (currently all AX.25-interfaces provided by the LinuX
kernel). Each port may be selected and by checking the box use
it may be enabled for use by LinKT.
Screen
The Screen-Configuration has three folders:
-
Generic
-
The buffersizes setting determines how many lines are stored
in the QSO-/TX-window for scroll back access.
The QSO-Window panel determines the QSO-Window position.
It can be above or underneath the TX-Window.
In addition this dialog allows you to select the fonts and
font-sizes for each of the QSO- and TX-Windows.
-
Colors
-
This enables you to select the colors for the connection windows:
| black | schwarz |
| white | weiß |
| darkgray | dunkelgrau |
| gray | grau |
| lightgray | hellgrau |
| red | rot |
| green | grün |
| blue | blau |
| cyan | zyan (aqua?) |
| magenta | violett (rosa) |
| yellow | gelb |
| darkred | dunkelrot |
| darkgreen | dunkelgrün |
| darkblue | dunkelblau |
| darkcyan | dunkelzyan |
| darkmagenta | dunkelviolett (violett) |
| darkyellow | dunkelgelb (ocker) |
If you are using a rather thin font on a dark background, it is reasonable to
activate the bold attribute.
The particular settings are:
-
Colors QSO-Win
-
This is for the text received from a remote station (RX-text),
the text sent out by us and the connect-status information.
-
Colors TX-Win
-
Typed Text and Background.
-
Color of highlighted text
-
Color of text if marked using the mouse.
-
Others
-
TX-Windowsize
-
This determines how many percent of a connect window is used by the TX-window.
The rest is used by the QSO-window.
-
automatic line-break
-
Default value; this determines if and then at which column LinKT inserts a linebreak.
The wordwrap can be set for each individual callsign too; this is only
the default setting.
-
close window on disconnect
-
If this is enabled and a disconnect occurs, the corresponding window will
disappear. Otherwise it stays open.
-
hide window when switching channel
-
If enabled there is only one connect window on your desktop. When switching
to another QSO by CTRL-PgUP/PgDN or via CallKey the window will
disappear and the newly selected window will show up in its place.
-
local echo
-
Every line sent by you will be displayed at the QSO-window (using the TX-color,
see above).
-
beep on CTRL-G
-
If a CTRL-G character (BEL, ASCII 0x08) is received, LinKT generates
a short beep on your PC speaker.
Sound
If you enable sounds, you can bind certain events to sound files which will
be played when the event occurs. To do so, the KDE kaudiosaver must be running.
We recommend to play around with Sound
Systemsounds at
the KDE Control Center.
You can choose a sound (as WAV-File) from the list sounds and associate is
with disconnect, connect or the remote command //RING. The list can be
extended using the Add WAV button. Pressing at Play WAV will
play the selected sound file.
Away
You may enter up to four different "away" messages, which can be sent to all
connected stations using the away feature.
The messages can contain macros.
Shortcuts
These enable you to associate pre-selected text (which may contain macros) with shortcut keys. The pre-selected text is sent by
pressing the CTRL-Key and a numeric key simultanously during
a QSO.
CallKey
This is a special feature of LinKT. There is no direct association between TNC-channels
and LinKT's QSO-windows like there is in traditional packet terminals. Instead of
this, you can bind certain frequently used callsigns to function-keys
(F1 to F10). By default, the association does
not respect SSID, if you want a different SSID for the same callsign to be
bound to a different CallKey you have to check the ssid
box. That makes sense whenever there is more than one service available
under a single callsign.
Fothers
These are settings which do not fit in any of the other categories, (surprise).
-
Overwrite existing files: If selected, LinKT's auto-save
feature overwrites existing files having the same filename as the one to be
saved. Otherwise LinKT will save the file under a different filename by
appending a "--number" to it (image.p05 becomes image.p05--1).
-
Increment SSID: This allows you to establish more than one connection to the
same callsign. If LinKT detects that there is already a connection, it will change your
MYCALL by incrementing its SSID (DG6VJ becomes DG6VJ-1 and so on). Note that if
the SSID is already 15 (the highest possible value) you will get a message
"cannot increment ssid" .
Directories
You may use this to specify which directories which LinKT will use to save
BIN, 7plus and text files.
Files
Using the folders ctext, qtext, info, help and news
, you may edit the corresponding files in ~/.kde/share/apps/linkt/.
You may use macros. The import button loads a
selected file into the editor.
The following files are used by LinKT:
File |
Content |
ctext |
This is the connect-text, which every station will receive when connecting
to your station |
qtext |
This text is transmitted whenever a remote station disconnects using the
//QUIT-command |
help.linkt |
This will be transmitted when the remote-station issues the //HELP command. |
info.linkt |
Same as above, but for //INFO. |
news.linkt |
Same as above, but for//NEWS. |
